Houseboat

What a lovely scene. A beautiful couple and their dog having a wonderful afternoon on their houseboat on the Seine, enjoying the weather with tea and pastries. I don’t think I could ever live on a houseboat though. I’ll get dizzy with the constant rocking. Having said that, eons ago I stayed on one while in Stockholm — the houseboat was one of the cheapest options for accommodation; I have upgraded since then — and went on a cruise from Florida to the Bahamas. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll repeat the experience. Perhaps the only exception would be if I ever go from Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia to Antarctica. I was very close once, but never made it.

  1. :-) The words Houseboat and River… reminded me of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in the floating house down the Mississippi River. As a child I thought this was so amazing and funny. Thank you for bringing back this memory. I will add this book to my children’s library.

  2. Ms. Hat: It’s been a long, long time since I’ve read those stories! I’ll remind myself to read them to Sophie when she’s older.
