For years I have lusted after this chair. Seriously. Whether at a furniture store or at the Vitra Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, I always mumble to myself “I want that chair!” each time I see it. Designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1948, it was first presented at the New York Museum of Modern Art’s (MOMA) “Low Cost Furniture Design” competition and has since become the first molded plastic chair to be mass produced. I actually never tried and sat on it, but I think it’s finally time to pay our local Vitra retailer a visit. Fingers crossed it’ll be comfortable so I can blissfully order one to decorate our tiny living room. Well, at least it won’t be an impulse buy!
